Overview

Job Summary

Responsible for the negotiation of air/ground intercept Mutual Aide agreements with ground providers primarily regarding arrangements for payment for patient and crew transports, from which the preferred provider matrix is maintained and published internally to dispatch and other departments.  Performs verification of all ground providers, A/P is reviewed for compliance with agreements or represents an opportunity for negotiation. This role will support Accounting, Billing, and Collections staff.  Assist leadership in assuring confidentiality is maintained and HIPAA compliance is adhered to. This is an in-person position located in Las Vegas, NV.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:  

  • Ensure authorization requests and authorization appeals are submitted and followed-up on with the appropriate insurance company via fax, phone or online
  • Ensure all hospital records are requested in a timely manner and follow up completed as needed until received via fax, phone or online
  • Contacts ground providers in geographic areas where AMC may benefit from negotiated arrangements for air/ground intercept rates and processes.
  • Submit/mail appeal letters, claims and other correspondence to insurance companies in a timely manner with all appropriate documentation.  Document accounts when completed for tracking purposes
  • Review and distribute incoming correspondence including faxes, mail and emails to appropriate staff and link to accounts in electronic records program for tracking
  • Report updates and analysis of third-party ground ambulance mutual aid agreements and preferred provider matrix.
  • Maintain updated agreements as terms change.
  • Maintain and distribute updated Ground Ambulance Preferred Provider Matrix.
  • Review, code, and process all ground ambulance transportation provider invoices.
  • Monitor invoices and contact ground ambulance providers to provide education on their ability to bill mutual patients of air/ground intercepts.
  • Responsible for Maintaining Non-Patient Invoices and Contracts
  • Distribute reports as developed and requested.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Experience handling various aspects of billing, data integrity, and collection function for a healthcare provider preferred.
  • Knowledge of various PPO, HMO, Medicare, Medicaid and other payer reimbursement structures.
  • Understanding of health care claims process.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high degree of collaboration at all levels.
  • Advanced customer service and phone skills.

Computer Skills

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

USD $38,675.00/Yr.

Maximum Pay

USD $56,125.00/Yr.
