Job Summary
Reporting to the Fuel Systems Manager, the Fuel Operations Lead provides training, direction, and mentorship to all BHH Aircraft Fuelers. This position is also responsible for ensuring all fueling equipment is maintained according to applicable standards.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
- Assisting the Fuel Systems manager in the ordering and scheduling of fuel purchases.
- Publishing a fuel truck maintenance schedule and communicate changes in fleet serviceability to the Fuel Systems Manager. Maintain contact with vendors to keep fuel trucks serviced and maintained.
- Supervising the general upkeep of fuel farm and fuel trailers as applicable.
- Overseeing and performing filter changes and other routine maintenance for all bases.
- Troubleshooting complex fuel system issues, including leaks, contamination, and sensor malfunctions.
- Perform initial and recurrent training of new fuel operations employees at all bases in accordance with company standards and OJT processes.
- Maintain currency of Supervisor Fire Extinguisher certification.
- Ensure spill kits are stocked and accessible and that staff are properly trained in spill prevention and response.
- Ensure that daily fuel sampling is performed satisfactorily and alert the Fuel Systems Manager and Director of Maintenance of any fuel quality discrepancies.
- Assist Fuel Systems Manager with audit preparation and action plans for internal, third-party, and regulatory audits.
- Work with the BHH quality department on audit plans for external vendors.
- Perform aircraft fueling as required.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities.

Qualifications

Education & Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3–5 years in aviation fueling operations
- Hands-on experience with Airbus EC130 or similar rotorcraft fuel systems preferred
- Familiarity with FAA regulations, EPA fuel handling standards, and hazmat protocols
- Experience managing fuel system programs across multiple bases or facilities
- Knowledge and experience with fuel quality control, storage tank maintenance, and fuel farm operations
- Familiarity with NFPA 407, EPA SPCC, and airport fueling regulations.
- Understanding of SMS (Safety Management Systems) and Quality Control audits

Computer Skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- RAMCO Software knowledge and experience preferred.
Work Location:
- Position is based in Hilo but will travel frequently to all islands.
