The Float Flight Paramedic supports the Midwest Region by providing high-quality pre-hospital advanced life support across multiple CBS bases. This position requires active paramedic licensure in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky and the ability to deploy quickly wherever operational needs arise.
Candidates must have three years of recent critical care experience in ALS/911 transport or flight within the last five years, as well as a minimum of one year of flight experience. All applicants must meet the 225-pound maximum weight requirement (in flight suit and boots) to comply with aircraft safety and performance standards.
Float clinicians deliver advanced patient care from initial contact through hospital handoff, maintain strict compliance with Air Methods’ safety and clinical guidelines, and integrate quickly with different flight teams. This role includes trauma, medical, and specialty transports, participation in mission briefings, equipment readiness, and ongoing training expectations.
The following certifications are required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, PHTLS (or ITLS), FP-C, and NRP.
This position also requires heavy regional travel and availability for a minimum of two 24-hour shifts per week as scheduled by the Centralized Scheduling team.
The Float Flight Paramedic is a key resource for the Midwest, ensuring safe, reliable clinical coverage during staffing gaps, high-volume periods, and emergent operational needs.
Job Summary
Responsible for providing high quality pre-hospital advanced life support including assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing standards and guidelines established by Air Methods Community Based Services (CBS) Medical Director(s). You’ll be responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of Air Methods CBS assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. This position supports multiple Clinical Flight Teams in at bases in all regions where currently licensed.
