Job Summary
The Director of Peer Support & Workforce Resilience leads the national SIREN (Support, Intervention, Resilience, and Engagement Network) program responsible for overseeing peer support services, crisis response, and resilience-building initiatives across the air medical workforce. This Director-level role is responsible for the strategic development, operational management, and continuous improvement of the SIREN program, ensuring timely, confidential, and effective support for employees impacted by stress, trauma, or critical incidents. The Director collaborates with clinical, operational, and HR leaders to embed peer support and mental health resources into organizational culture, promoting psychological safety, employee engagement, and well-being.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
Strategic Leadership & Program Development:
- Develop and execute a robust workforce resilience strategy aligned with the company’s mission and values.
- Lead the national peer support program, including recruitment, training, and oversight of peer support team members.
- Establish policies, protocols, and best practices for peer support and crisis intervention tailored to air medical operations.
Operational Oversight:
- Manage day-to-day operations of peer support services (SIREN), ensuring timely, confidential, and effective interventions.
- Monitor SIREN program metrics and outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with regional and site leadership to ensure consistent program delivery and integration across diverse operational environments.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Partner with clinical, operational, and human resources leadership to embed resilience initiatives into workforce development and wellness programs.
- Serve as a key resource for leadership regarding workforce mental health trends, crisis management, and employee support needs.
- Build relationships with external mental health providers and organizations to augment internal resources.
Training & Education:
- Oversee development and delivery of resilience, stress management, and peer support training for employees at all levels.
- Promote awareness and utilization of peer support and mental health resources throughout the company.
Crisis Response & Support:
- Lead or coordinate response efforts following critical incidents or traumatic events impacting employees.
- Ensure appropriate follow-up, referrals, and ongoing support for affected individuals and teams.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure peer support and wellness programs comply with HIPAA, regulatory, and organizational privacy requirements.
- Prepare regular reports on program activities, outcomes, and key metrics for executive leadership and governance committees.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Peer Support Program (SIREN). Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. For Exempt Managers: Managers that carry out these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.
Qualifications

Education & Experience
- Master’s degree from four-year college or university; in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related mental health field required. and ten or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mental health, peer support program leadership, or employee wellness required
- Minimum of 5 years’ preferably in healthcare, emergency services, or aviation sectors preferred
- Proven expertise in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and resilience-building.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Thorough knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance in mental health contexts.
- Proficiency with data analysis, program evaluation, and reporting tools.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, decentralized national environment requiring adaptability and flexibility.
Skills
- Provides proactive strategy development for a functional discipline / strategic development of long-term policy for a business unit
- Experience or certification in peer support training methodologies (e.g., Mental Health First Aid).
- Background in air medical or emergency medical services environment.
- Initiates, leads, and evaluates implementation of functional programs across major business areas
- Builds partnerships with related departments or functions to enhance efficiency and execution
- Strategic thinker with a passion for workforce well-being and mental health advocacy.

Computer Skills
- Advanced with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC) certification required.
- Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPCS) or equivalent state licensure preferred.
