Job Summary
The Chief Inspector, Part 135 reports to the Quality Manager and forms part of the Blue Hawaiian Quality Assurance system. The Chief Inspector, Part 135 will be responsible for the AAIP, ICAs, and Ramco aircraft and component maintenance programs. This role will also have complete oversight of the Maintenance Verification Task (MVT) program.
The classification of this position is broad and assigned specific functional areas; duties and assignments may overlap depending on the operational needs of the department.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
- Responsible for maintaining BHH’s Aircraft Approved Inspection Programs (AAIP).
- Responsible for the training, direction, and supervision of all personnel assigned to the inspection responsibilities of the Maintenance Verification Task (MVT) program.
- Responsible for the direction and administration of the MVT program.
- Responsible for compiling aircraft and component reliability data and reporting to the Director of Maintenance.
- Responsible for the receiving inspection program for aircraft parts and materials. Ensure that required maintenance programs are loaded onto components in Ramco and that parts requirements are set up.
- Coordinates with the FAA for approval of alternate method of compliance (AMOCs) for ADs after their development by the company.
- Assuring that all company aircraft maintenance and inspection records are maintained in a permanent file at the company’s primary maintenance facility.
- Assist the Quality Manager with performing both internal and vendor audits.
- Incorporate Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA’s) for aircraft installations and modifications into the AAIP and Ramco maintenance program.
- Reviews manufacturer service publications (airframe, powerplant, avionics systems and equipment) and determines applicability to BHH’s AAIP inspection program.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees working in the Quality Assurance department. Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university and 5 or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous administration and or quality assurance experience preferred.
- Experience in Aviation required.
- Management experience preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable of all company auditing, evaluation, and reporting procedures.
- Must be knowledgeable of the Aircraft Manufacturer’s Maintenance Manual, inspection and maintenance specifications, and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.
- Must hold or be able to acquire an Inspection Authorization.

Computer Skills

- Advanced RAMCO Software experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must hold an A&P certificate
- Must hold or be able to acquire an Inspection Authorization.
Work Location
- Position is based on the island of Maui but will assist all locations in which Blue Hawaiian Helicopters resides.
