Overview

Job Summary

The Sr. Director Technical Operations will lead service engineering and own direct maintenance cost oversight, including all Aircraft/Engine repair, overhaul & exchange decisions, analysis, and costs. Responsible for leading the Engineering team in the development, design, and airworthiness of critical mission equipment on AMC aircraft.  This role will lead the performance of the Engineering and Repairs teams striving to mitigate aircraft delays, minimize costs and maintain safety and operational performance. The Sr. Director Technical Operations will develop strategies & lead solutions for creation of short- and long-term impacts of proposed program, policy, or other changes in the maintenance organization. This position will also lead communications between operations and supply chain management to support budget objectives. Lead the Repairs team activities, partnering with MX Planning, AOG and Procurement buyers and Vendors to maximize value stream and to drive cost out.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:  

  • Lead all engineering activities to ensure compliance with project schedules, repairs and budget objectives and fully aligned with the program scope of work and technical requirements
  • Direct Engineering and Repairs team support activities in Air Methods operations.
  • Create and lead the necessary management cadence and KPIs to monitor overall departmental performance and to drive continuous improvements
  • Create & manage all cross-functional DMC processes essential to the organization’s business continuity, cost, and efficiency
  • Support commercial contract activity by actively participating in bid review and approval process and ensuring reliability and timeliness of proposals issued to AMC
  • Monitor component exchange and repairs ROs for compliance to company policy. Balance needs with costs and aircraft ISR. Develop & lead solutions to minimize cost
  • Communicate decisions and/or business case analysis on repair process to affected departments prior to implementing actions.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Engineering department.  Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.  For Exempt Managers:  Managers that carry out these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering from four-year college or university; fifteen (15) or more years related experience and/or training
  • 10 years’ experience in engineering management in a substantive airframe related organization
  • 10 years’ experience managing a wide range of projects from small to large
  • 10 years’ experience in aircraft or component delivery operations
  • Experience with quality management systems and/or regulatory compliance desired
  • Experience in project/program management preferred

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability in process improvement
  • Deep understanding of repair processes, vendor capabilities and time requirements for aircraft maintenance checks.
  • Ability to manage people in different project teams and functional roles.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • SolidWorks

USD $165,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Pay

USD $220,000.00/Yr.
