Overview

Job Summary

Responsible for the business performance of the Certified part 145 Repair Station, including meeting quality standards, turn time commitments, achievement of the budget, inventory management and return to service of aircraft and components while driving a culture of continuous improvement

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:  

  • Coordinate and support all aspects of aircraft heavy maintenance projects,  component  overhaul and sheet metal shop demands, managing projects from pre-induction inspection to delivery to end customer, driving cost savings and turn-around time reductions to meet or exceed developed standards
  • Supervise the maintenance, repairs, overhauls, inspections, and alterations of Company operated aircraft and articles in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, manufacture's recommendations, and Air Methods’ standards
  • Collaborate with peer group to manage areas of responsibility and help maintain all department goals and objectives
  • Manage all shop personnel in a pay for performance culture, write and present annual evaluations, goals, and development plans for personnel under your responsibility.  Establish a high level of technical understanding and education in all personnel.
  • Work with Central Planning to coordinate and integrate the Repair Station capacity into the overall Air Methods Operations capacity plan
  • Help develop best practices to increase safety and quality standards improvement culture in the Repair Station using LEAN principles, seven elements of waste, and 5S practices
  • Report key performance indicators (KPI) of aircraft and component maintenance projects to the 145 Repair Station Director and planning department
  • Ensure all referenced data including but not limited to maintenance manuals, service bulletins, parts books, regulatory updates, and other technical directives are the current distributed revisions available
  • Use corrective action system Excellence Through Quality (ETQ) to work Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) on process improvement, and drive a root cause analysis culture in the shop

Subject to applicable laws and Air Method’s policies, regular attendance is an essential function of the position.  All employees must follow Air Methods’ employment practices and policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees of the 145 Maintenance Department.  Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing conflicts and resolving problems.  For Exempt Managers:  Managers that carry out these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor Degree, preferably in Aviation; or eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant supervisory experience with a proven record of leading and motivating a team
  • 10 years’  aviation experience
  • Previous experience in managing aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul businesses.

Computer Skills

  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn and utilize the Company’s maintenance information system (Ramco)
  • Able to use multiple data bases to track business unit performance

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Airframe & Powerplant Certificate (Must meet the recent experience requirements of FAR 65.83)
  • Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P)

USD $71,865.00/Yr.

Maximum Pay

USD $104,349.00/Yr.
