Overview

Job Summary

The Senior Manager Accounting will act as a business partner between all organizations outside of accounting (including but not limited to operations and supply chain teams, AP, Treasury, and the finance organization). The Senior Manager Accounting will use their accounting knowledge to drive process improvements and accountability within the accounting function.  They will also incorporate financial analysis pertinent to the financial health of the organization in achieving both short term and long-term financial plans, as well as other strategic cost savings initiatives. This role will act as a thought leader from an accounting perspective and will have a seat at the decision-making table to drive accurate and timely financial information. Additionally, they will also manage and develop team members.

Core Responsibilities for all jobs at this level

  • Lead the financial analysis and reporting for the external financial statements and monthly reporting
  • GAAP technical accounting memos
  • financial reporting and footnotes preparation
  • Represent the accounting organization’s values and processes providing high quality support to executive leadership and senior leadership teams 
  • Direct financial and operational due diligence for all areas
  • Standard Accounting responsibilities including:
    • Timely and accurate close process
    • Review of quality account reconciliations
    • Monthly close responsibilities (JE review, variance analysis, monthly reporting package)
    • Process improvements and streamline processes
    • Manage and train an effective team
  • Owner of financial KPIs
  • Direct the planning, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of related processes. Interpret and recommends modification to existing policies and practices.  Interpret and prepare accounting technical memo’s.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following

  • Provide financial support for new business opportunities. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 
    • Coordination with multiple functions within the org. on various business initiatives
    • Evaluate and implement best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Accounting department.  Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.  For Exempt Managers:  Managers that carry out these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.

  • Regular scheduled attendance
  • Indicate the percentage of time spent traveling ~ 10%

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from four-year college or university; and approximately ten more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 5 years previous progressive management experience required
  • CPA required 
  • Experience in Healthcare/Airline industry recommended

Computer Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • CPA

USD $130,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Pay

USD $170,000.00/Yr.
