Overview

Job Summary

The Senior Cost Accountant performs various corporate accounting functions in accordance with GAAP. This role will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reviewing entries and schedules to support timely and accurate financial reporting. Performs financial analysis, process improvement, audit functions, and various financial projects. The Senior Cost Account will report directly to the Accounting Manager and work closely with the FP&A team of the Manufacturing Subsidiary to achieve organizational objectives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:  

  • Act as a resource to the Manufacturing Subsidiary to resolve general ledger issues and questions (coding, balancing, reports, etc.)
  • Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and sub-ledgers
  • Prepare journal entries 
  • Participate in monthly and annual closes
  • Prepare schedules and analyses for annual audit 
  • Other duties as requested by the Controller and/or Management team

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Accounting or Business from four-year college or university; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of staff accounting experience preferred
  • Ability to determine proper accounting treatment for transactions based on accounting principles 

Skills

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems logically
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Prior cost accounting experience including analysis, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Experience with Microsoft suite products and strong understanding of Accounting ERP systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience with cross-functional collaboration
  • Professional written and verbal communication
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule in line with standard monthly close processes

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Advanced Excel skills, to include pivot tables, complex formulas, and links
  • Microsoft Dynamics SL or Great Plains software experience preferred

USD $74,100.00/Yr.

Maximum Pay

USD $111,125.00/Yr.
