Overview

Job Summary:

Avionics Technician (with A&P) is responsible for being an essential part of the success of the Certificated Repair Station by installation, troubleshooting and repair of avionics systems and equipment installed in company aircraft. Avionics Technician is additionally responsible for completion of FAA documentation of required records for company owned aircraft and components. Preferred EC135 experience with a strong avionics background to fill the role at the Elm City Maintenance Facility. 

 

Elm City is located in Wilson County, in the eastern part of North Carolina. It is about 10 miles north of the city of Wilson, 20 miles south of Rocky Mount, and approximately 50 miles east of Raleigh. The town's location in the Coastal Plain region places it within a short drive of both the Atlantic coast and the larger metropolitan areas of central North Carolina. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:

• Fabricates, assembles, installs, modifies, tests, operates and troubleshoots aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
Fabricates avionics, electrical and medical systems to engineering schematic specifications.
• Operationally tests avionics, electrical, and medical systems per manufacturer’s instructions.
• Performs build-up activities related to electrical installations such as parts recording, harness fabrication, continuity testing, and securing in aircraft.
• Troubleshoots electrical schematics when appropriate.
• Assist on design activities with planning installation/repair modifications.
• Assists with planning and documenting in-flight testing, certification, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Assists in FAA repair station documentation – action procedures (work order, FAA Form 337’s, aircraft weight and balance, equipment list changes, log book entries, parts recording, documentation changes).
• Orders parts and supplies for department, maintains necessary stock levels, evaluates parts for repair/restock.
• Maintains the upkeep of the work area, equipment and materials.
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Formal Electronics/ Avionics Training
• Helicopter experience preferred

Skills

• Ability to read and work form blue prints and schematics
• Proficiency in the use of tools applicable to performing Avionics repairs and alterations
• Ability to work with a team and as an individual with little supervision
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrate the ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with others

Computer Skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• FCC License, FAA Airframe and Power license (required), and/or FAA repairman certificate
